Salsa Festival Extravaganza

Food lovers can compete in a cook-off or a watermelon-eating competition. There’s a jalapeno eating contest for the bravest of contenders. This celebration of culture and heritage will be at Luna County Courthouse Park, 700 S Silver Ave, in Deming.
Hummingbird Festival
The weekend of July 30th is sure to be a treat as hummingbirds pause here on their migration journey between Mexico and Canada. Visit on Saturday or Sunday from 8 am to 3 pm and see the hummingbirds get tagged with identification bands. Be sure to explore the museum, too! There will be food, music, and speakers. The Mimbres Culture Heritage Site is at 12 Sage Dr. in Mimbres.
National Night Out
On Tuesday, August 2nd, Deming’s Luna County Courthouse Park at 700 S Silver Ave. is hosting a community-building event from 6-8 pm. The purpose is to promote partnerships between police and the community to make our neighborhoods safer. There will be music and dancing, as well as free hamburgers and hot dogs. Businesses and organizations can register to set up booths with games and activities for kids.
Great American Duck Race
August 24th – August 27th will mark the 44th anniversary of the Great American Duck Race. This year’s theme is “Disco Duck Hustling to Victory.” The big event is at the Luna County Courthouse Park at 700 S Silver Ave. in Deming. They feature vendors, a carnival, hot air balloons (weather permitting), live music, and fast ducks!
